The Trusty Teapot creating a conversation bridge between Counsellors and Psychotherapist of all specialisms, cultures, genders, modalities, races and ages

I believe I have the simplest and most effective idea that can bring an end to the professional isolation felt by many of us.

I am not going to help  bring fellowship and camaraderie into your life by offering another group for continued professional development, based on theory learning, there are plenty of those around doing a great job.

What I am offering is perhaps a more personal way of self-development, increasing hive brain, resilience, connecting  by simply  meeting face to face or online,  meet at a local cafe, share your tea break or have a virtual lunch together.

We will create a conversation bridge between us all.  Reach out to those with different specialisms, cultures, genders, modalities. races and ages.  Therapists trained as you are and working as you do, and just as keen to connect with you in this wonderful profession.

Counsellors have always worked out on a limb, often without co-workers who understand the why, what and when and how of what we do.

Practitioners seeking camaraderie online can often find it a less than nourishing experience. Exchanging ideas and experiences through faceless, brief, online exchanges of messages can be dissatisfying, sometimes misinterpreted, and can be controversial.

The Trusty teapot puts the joy that fellowship and camaraderie can bring at the forefront and the heart of the ethos of all contacts. Leaving the competitive  cut and thrust of contentious debate on theory and practice for another venue.

Why join The Trusty Teapot now?

The current pandemic crisis amplified my already held concern about the isolation of therapists.

If the many predictions are right, and my gut feeling, we are going to see a wave of psychologically distressed people emerging with the lock-down. I’m sure you can imagine what is coming.

  • Are we ready?
  • Do we have all the resilience we need to see us through?
  • Have we as much support as we might need?

We do need to prepare for  the work, keeping our learning fresh and working our supervision. Importantly we need to take steps to ensure our protection.

We may or may not need PPE, but we  do need to double down on our self-care to ensure our resilience during the demands of the work that is to come.

Self-care is more important now than ever.

Building your resilience is a major part of self-care.

A key component of resilience is connection.

And by design connection is what The Trusty Teapot is all about.

So please join us – it is super simple, super convenient and super cheap for you all to play a part in bringing an end to professional isolation.
